Thassos island is the most northerly of all the Greek islands and can be found in the Aegean Sea nestled between the Halkidiki Peninsular and Kavala. Conveniently, it is only 6 kilometres away from the nearest port on the mainland. Along with its stunning natural beauty this is one of the reasons for Thassos’s popularity: no lengthy ferry boat journeys.
Limenaria on the south side of the island of Thassos is a quiet haven for travelers. The Limenaria beach stretches for about three kilometers from the harbor with its colorful fishing boats and the impressive Palataki building up Tripiti on the western end.

If you charter your own boat you don’t have to confine yourself just to Thassos, a trip across to the Athos peninsular of Halkidiki which is the ancient home of several Orthodox monasteries.
The islands of Limnos and Samothraki are also popular destinations. The organised group boat trips are an easy and inexpensive way of getting to see parts of the island only reachable by boat.
Water sports
All the main beaches of Thassos are supplied with floating platforms where professional instructors will initiate you into water-skiing, jet-skiing, paragliding or wind surfing.
